Sync user workspace between public and author instance
    #1 by Mrye on Aug 28, 2017 11:14:20 AM

    Hi,

Currently we only want to manage users from the author instance. What is the best way to sync users workspace between public and author instances, if there is any changes in public instance e.g password ?

I have tried publish in both directions - author to public, public to author - and use observation module to auto-published on property changed. Seems like ok but with few bugs.

If you want to manage users created on the public instance (like self-registration user, etc..) from the author instance, you need to create a clustered workspace for the users. This way the author and public are using the same 'database'. Changes made in the author are directly visible on the public (because it's the same 'database').

The PUR module is using the same structure: https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Public+User+Registration+module
Here you can read more about clustering: https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Clustering
The PUR is using a separate realm for the users (See configuration:/server/security/userManagers).
