how to migrate Derby DB to Oracle DB?
    #1 by acervantes on Oct 3, 2011 8:56:52 PM

    Hi all.

I have Magnolia CE 4.4.4. with derby DB.

I just want to migrate the embedded derby DB to Oracle DB, I have create a lot of pages so I want to migrate all my site that I have created.

    1. does anyone know a procedure to do that?
    2. is it enough export the data of derby tables to oracle tables?
    3. which tables do I need to export/import)

I know that I need to configure the magnolia.properties file to update the magnolia.repositories.jackrabbit.config variable and configure the jackrabbit-oracle-search.xml file with appropriate data to connect to oracle db.

    Thanks in advance.

What keeps you from setting up an other Magnolia instance with Oracle and then activate the whole repository content from your old Derby Magnolia instance to your new Oracle Magnolia instance?

Look at this to migrate an existing installation to another DB.

    Hello,

If you would like to migrate derby DB to Oracle DB, you should do following steps

    Setting the Environment
    Creating an Oracle Database Table
    Creating an Apache Derby Table
    Starting HDFS
Importing Apache Derby Table Data into HDFS
Exporting HDFS Data into Oracle Database
Selecting Data in Oracle Database Table

Oracle SQL Developer may be used to migrate Apache Derby to Oracle Database. For migrating large quantities of data the Sqoop tool is preferable for migrating Derby to Oracle Database.

    Thanks,
    MadisonQuinn

    Hello-

I would use the repository copy script. See https://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/WIKI/Groovy+Shell+Scripts#GroovyShellScripts-MigrationfromoneDBsystemtoanother

    Cheers
