    To whom it may concern:
I installed magnolia successfully , in the first page for localhost:8080 when I click on run web update on the author and public instance, new browser windows are opened yet nothing loads or appears to install related modules. What could be wrong?

    Hi Kian,

Sounds like your Tomcat is running but the Magnolia webapp cannot be found at the link you are clicking. The start page that contains the "Run the web update" links is just a static HTML file in <CATALINA_HOME>/webapps/ROOT/index.html. The links point to webapp directories named magnoliaAuthor and magnoliaPublic by default in the bundle.

Compare the directories on your disk to the tree shown in in https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Installing+Magnolia How are your directories name? Does the tree match the directories on your disk?

Can you reach a Magnolia webapp by adapting the URL to http://localhost:8080/<your_directory_name>/.magnolia/admincentral instead of http://localhost:8080/magnoliaAuthor/.magnolia/admincentral ?

    Greetings,
I checked the path, I do have both magnoliaAuthor and magnoliaPublic under webapps, I opened both, I did not see any
.magnolia folder, could it be a hidden folder?
    regards

    Kian
There is no .magnolia folder in the webapp. The path mentioned above by Antti is enabled via servlet mapping.

Try to access this link with the browser: http://localhost:8080/magnoliaAuthor/
If you do it for the first time, Magnolia will finish the installation, finally leading you to a login form (where you must enter super user / superuser).
When this is done, request http://localhost:8080/magnoliaPublic/ with the browser.

    Have a look at https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Installing+Magnolia

    Cheers,
    Christoph

I did as you advised, after few minutes .magnolia/installer automatically was joined to the path (localhost:8080/magnoliaAuthor) yet the page is not loaded at all, just keeps loading with a blank page

It is being loaded now, slowly with lots of modules, I still have not clicked installation button.
    I keep you informed

magnoliaAuthor is installed, when I input superuser as login and password I was redirected to a page in which says it is for the smart phone, then I installed magnoliaPublic, out of 670 tasks, more than 340 tasks were done but suddenly a message came out regarding that stream is closed. I restarted server and it happened again. I am going to repeat the same procedure today
