    Wiki/Confluence scheduled downtime: August 10, 4PM CEST
    #1 by gjoseph on Aug 2, 2012 10:13:37 PM

    Hey all,

    Next Friday, August 10, we will perform a long overdue upgrade of our wiki software, Confluence.

    We expect the service to be unavailable as from 4PM CEST [1] for a couple of hours.

    I will update this message as soon as the service is back online, if all goes well.

    Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. Should you need the service during those hours, please let me know in advance so I can try to adjust the schedule.

    Cheers,

    -greg

    As you might have noticed, the upgrade didn't take place. Somehow ran into memory issues. Currently investigating; will update this thread once we found a solution.

    Okay folks. I found out what was wrong (mostly my reading abilities), did some test migrations, and it looks good now. Since I'll be away Friday and after the week-end, I'm unfortunately postponing the upgrade for Thursday 23rd, 6PM CET. I'll update this post when the times come !

    Hey all,

    So as mentioned, the upgrade of Confluence will finally happen on the 23rd - I'd do it earlier, but I'm off site for a couple of days, so I'd rather do it when I'm around to fix the issues that will inevitably occur right after it's done.

    Just so it doesn't bite you by surprise, here are a couple of things that changed in recent versions of Confluence (remember we're upgrading from 2.10 to 4.2, so there's a LOT more than that)

    * Default themes have changed - the Clickr Theme and Left Navigation Theme are not bundled anymore, and will be replaced automatically by "Easy Reader" and "Documentation".

    * "Autowatch", a new feature, will be turned on for your username by default. You will be able to turn it off by editing the email settings in your profile. Autowatch will only happen for pages you create, edit or comment on after the migration, though. You will be able to change your settings at http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/users/viewmyemailsettings.action - and view your current watches at http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/users/viewnotifications.action

    * You might have to reselect your avatar. It should still be available, but somehow not enabled by default. Go to http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/users/editmyprofilepicture.action

    * Editing a Confluence page in an Office application, if you've ever used that, is a feature that's been removed since Confluence 4.0.

    * And the most visible change is this: there is only one single editor ! No more "rich text editor" or "wiki markup". The new editor is kind-of a visual editor, but lets you use markup as well. I was skeptical at first, but it seems to work really well ! Details:

    * Quick and random selection of cool new features:
    * @mentions ! https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF42/Confluence+4.0+Release+Notes#Confluence4.0ReleaseNotes-Introducing@mentions
    * Space attachments macro: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF42/Confluence+4.1+Release+Notes#Confluence4.1ReleaseNotes-Spaceattachmentsmacro
    * Likes and follows
    * Find&replace in the editor: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF42/Searching+Confluence
    * A whole bunch of others which I'm sure you'll find on your own. Share your findings !

    Boy I'd love to have that editor in Magnolia. And the @mentions of course. Great stuff from AAA-tlassian, as always.

    Ahoy, it's back !

    Please let me know of any oddity you might encounter*, and in the mean

    * For now, I've noticed the rating-search macro is broken (Adaptavist is working on a fix), and some pages with heavily customized layouts or macro usage might not have been fully migrated to the new format by Confluence. Please make a copy before attempting to fix them.

    This is great, Greg! :)

    The only odd bits that I've so far noticed are that I can't autocomplete some account names in the editor and network settings.

    For example, go to

    http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/users/viewfollow.action

    and try to autocomplete 'bkraft', 'ordnas' or 'will' - none of these work for me (though I can add type them out and then follow the user) However, I can auto-complete your account. Odd.

    If others can reproduce this, I'll go file a ticket.

    Cheers!

    Please let me know of any oddity you might encounter

    Minor oddity: fixed-width text is rendered in Courier inline but in Consolas in code blocks. Either font works but not both. http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/DEV/URI+encoding+in+Tomcat

    Fixed with a custom stylesheet*, but it looks like a "bug" in Confluence - would probably make sense to double check on a vanilla installation before reporting it.

    * somehow still looks a little different to me, but that's probably due to color/background differences ?

    I don't know if it's related to the migration but all the code samples from this page are missing. I see this problem with code sample on others pages as well.

    Salut Jean-François,

    I'm not sure which code samples you're referring to; I do see Apache config snippets in that page. What else is missing ?
